        uniQure N.V. ("uniQure" or the "Company") is a biopharmaceutical company which was founded in 1998 by scientists who were investigating Lipoprotein Lipase Deficiency ("LPLD") at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam. The Company initially operated through its predecessor company, Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics Holding N.V. ("AMT"). The Company was incorporated in January 2012 to acquire and continue the gene therapy business of AMT in the Netherlands. Effective February 10, 2014, in connection with its initial public offering, the Company converted into a public company with limited liability and changed its legal name from uniQure B.V. to uniQure N.V. The Company is registered with the Dutch Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce (handelsregister van de Kamer van Koophandel en Fabrieken) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands under number 54385229.         Effective January 1, 2017, the Company ceased to qualify as a foreign private issuer.         The Company is a leader in the field of gene therapy, seeking to develop single treatments with potentially curative results for patients suffering from genetic and other devastating diseases. The Company is advancing a focused pipeline of innovative gene therapies that have been developed both internally and through partnerships, such as the Company's collaboration with Bristol Myers-Squibb focused on cardiovascular diseases.
